“KJ Charles proves once again to be a master at creating characters you can’t help but become attached to—even in a short novella. As always, I loved every moment of it! John Garland has lost everything, and he knows exactly who’s to blame: Barnaby Littimer. So, when he discovers Littimer is hosting holiday festivities for his Christmas-obsessed uncle, John seizes the opportunity to expose him and have the man thrown in gaol—no matter what it takes. But as events unfold, John realizes there’s more to the situation than he expected. Soon, he and Littimer might just find themselves on the same side after all. This novella has all the twists, turns, action, and romance you’d expect from KJ Charles. A perfect read for Christmas Eve!”
“I enjoyed this story as both a Christmas tale and as an addition to the Lilywhite Boys series, even as really we don't see much of either of the boys. John and Barnaby have a lot of trust issues to work through as John's entire situation can be blamed in part of trusting Barnaby in the first place. Seeing him at his uncle's house in charge of the ceremonies for the Christmas season leading into John's cousins wedding has John spidey senses tingling. He's determined to prevent the dang criminal from being able to accomplish any of whatever he's plotting. The mystery here was fun. It didn't take long to figure out who the actual villain of the piece was, but I enjoyed John warring with himself as he tried to reconcile his feelings about Barnaby. Lovely holiday tale.”
