“I wanted to like this book more than I actually did, especially because this was my third or fourth attempt to read it. While I'm glad I completed it and it's finally in my rear-view mirror, I was left feeling very disappointed. There's potential for a good story, but (for me, at least) it was buried underneath superfluous writing and descriptions. I didn't need to read about every thought or every minute movement, especially in scenes of high tension or when someone is being chased. I'm fascinated by the Lizzie Borden case and the paranormal twist was promising, but it just didn't deliver the way I wanted it to. This novel would've been better served if it had one-third to even half of it trimmed away.”Start a Book Club
