“Good- but not great- late Maigret. Maigret has his wallet stolen by a young fellow on the bus. The fellow calls M. to return wallet, but begin the saga of his murdered young wife. Attention centers on his neighborhood and the restaurant where the young fellow (film maker) mixes with an actress, a photographer, a writer and a financier ... bohemian up to the gills. M. must sort this milieu and figure the killer.”
