Magic Hour
By Kristin HannahPublisher Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Great Alone comes an incandescent story about the resilience of the human spirit, the triumph of hope, and the meaning of home.
In the rugged Pacific Northwest lies the Olympic National Forest—nearly a million acres of impenetrable darkness and impossible beauty. From deep within this old growth forest, a six-year-old girl appears. Speechless and alone, she offers no clue as to her identity, no hint of her past.
Having retreated to her western Washington hometown after a scandal left her career in ruins, child psychiatrist Dr. Julia Cates is determined to free the extraordinary little girl she calls Alice from a prison of unimaginable fear and isolation. To reach her, Julia must discover the truth about Alice’s past—although doing so requires help from Julia’s estranged sister, a local police officer. The shocking facts of Alice’s life test the limits of Julia’s faith and strength, even as she struggles to make a home for Alice—and for herself.

“5/5 ⭐️ Wow! My first book by this author and I’m very impressed! The writing was amazing and the characters were very well developed! This story was so beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved every minute of it. The bond that Julia and Alice formed had me with tears in my eyes 😭❤️. I haven’t bawled my eyes out this much with a book in a long time and this one broke me. Thankfully, it put me back together again. It was truly a beautiful experience reading this story.”

“There’s points in time I wanted to DNF this book. I felt like it side tracked to a more romance driven story line. I wanted it to be more focused on the growth and backstory of Alice. The end was a little bit of a tear jerker with a heartwarming ending.”

“This was my first Kristin Hannah book and it certainly won’t be the last. This was very different than my typical romance, thriller and fantasy books I read. I could see the story playing out in my mind and I cared deeply for the characters and town. Touching story- I will think about sweet Alice for a long time.”
