Luck and Last Resorts
ByPublisher Description
One of PopSugar’s Best New Books of 2022!
They have a second chance at love, but there are some rough seas ahead in the new contemporary romance from the acclaimed author of Love, Lists, and Fancy Ships.
Commitment-phobe Nina Lejeune lives by two rules:
1. Always have fun.
2. Don’t rely on anyone but yourself.
The first rule is easy; the second, she's only broken once.
Ten years after fleeing home, Nina is the chief stewardess on the super yacht Serendipity, single by choice, and perfectly content with how life has turned out.
But Nina’s ex-coworker and old flame, Irish chef Ollie Dunne, isn’t so happy with the status quo. One year after leaving yachting, he's returned as the Serendipity’s chef with an ultimatum: if Nina continues to deny she's in love with him by the end of this charter season, he'll go back to Ireland for good.
Nina and Ollie's shared secret from their past threatens to shipwreck not only their relationship, but the entire boat. But as their connection grows amidst chaotic guests and crew drama, could there be smooth sailing in their future?

“i think there should be a bit more backstory it just felt like she was very stubborn but they didn’t SHOW why just kinda told us a quick reason”

“Nina and Ollie absolutely stole my heart! I could read a whole other book just about their every day lives. The banter, her dry sense of humor and his head over heels, so sickeningly smitten love for her is my favorite! This book was such a treat and easily a new favorite. It even had one of my least favorite tropes in it and I didn’t even mind.
Massive shoutout to Karissa Vacker who did a killer job as the narrator and tackling an Irish accent for our mmc!!”

“i am guilty of judging a book by its cover because i totally bought this without knowing anything about it other than it has a pretty cover. i didn't even know it was the second book in a series, but thank god it's for an interconnected standalone lol! i absolutely lucked out with trusting the cover for this one because i absolutely loved this book!
luck and last resorts has everything i enjoy: enemies to lovers, fake marriage, forced proximity, and men with sexy accents! a fiery fmc and a charming mmc makes for a perfect combo! whether they're enemies or lovers, their banter is always hilarious!
i also appreciate the depth that both characters have and the development they went through to realize their own growth & happiness. i understand how nina may come across as annoying to other readers but personally, i loved reading about her perspective. it was a bit of a challenge reading about a character struggling with something that i experience myself but i always. meanwhile, ollie is one i absolutely felt for. i can feel his love for nina and his desire for a future with her seeping through the pages. so it was heart wrenching to see two characters in love who have their own struggles coming between them of being together.
this was a journey of giggles and tears, and i'm so glad to have picked this book up!”
