Luc and Lila (The Chasm Trilogy Book 1)
ByPublisher Description
The fall of Lucifer. The creation of Earth. But make it a love story.
Lila
Heaven is the perfect place to spend eternity—if you have your own soul, which Lila does not. Forbidden from becoming an architect and created for a partner she doesn’t love, her greatest desire is to leap into the Void and be snuffed out of existence.
Oh, but then there’s the small matter of Heaven’s ‘brightest angel’ and the wondrous new world she’s helping him design. Must he shine so much light in her disappointing corner of the aether?
Luc
Since his creation, Luc has been expected to do great things for the good of all angels, according to a famed prophecy that few have seen. He has always been certain of two Earth will be his greatest accomplishment, and Lila will be his instead of Castor’s.
But there is more turmoil in Heaven than meets the eye, and neither Luc’s prophecy nor his lover may be what they seem. What happens when an ill-discovered secret turns his perception of Heaven—and his place in it—upside down?
JodiMarie's Notes:
If you like your romance with a heaping dose of angst and pining, academia vibes, class differences, and morally gray characters, this is the book for you! A dual timeline story, Luc and Lila has the school setting and political struggles of The Cruel Prince, but for an adult audience and with angels instead of fae.
*Please Note: This book is the first book in a trilogy and will end on a cliffhanger.
Content Warnings:
Suicidal Thoughts
Non-consensual Sexual Situations (referenced, non-explicit, and NOT occurring between the two main characters)
Sword Violence
Death
Infidelity
Classism
Emotional Abuse
Sexual Innuendo
Cursing

“I just binge read the whole book, it was actually fantastic!
While I expected romantasy, like it was listed, this book is so far from that, that it blew me away.
Think fantasy, ethereal beings, and mythology and mayhem amongst the masses.
I never really considered myself to believe in any religion, but if I did, this is exactly how I imagine the whole thing went down.
Was very interesting devouring the novel, only to find I had been underestimating the MCs, the story revolves around a half soul angel, who's life would be gone without the second part of the soul, she is living a life where she has no choices in any aspect of her world and is resentful, but loyal. Who btw, finally stands up for herself at the end, amidst shame, guilt and relief at her new circumstances. Her journey was hopeless until she gained her sense of self worth, and anyone that's been in a repressive, and belittling relationship will understand her plight.
The second MC is the lovely Lucifer.
Depicted in many historical and modern works, this book blew me away with giving him a backstory and glimpse into hell on the final pages. I especially loved that the book kept me guessing, I mean I knew given the blurb that is was about our little demonic fallen angel, but to me, his whole life had been built up in this smothering and overzealous way, I was left reeling on the realisation that the whole war could have been prevented, had it not been for the life long lies and mistreatment from his superiors.
Basically, he was pushed to it.
I was disheartened that there was no follow on from Lila, I would have liked to see how she ended up, and some conclusion to the souls in the aether.
Overall, it was very satisfying and an exciting read.
I regret that I have only just began to start catching up with my ARCs, and if it hadn't been for my worsening health, I'd have absolutely devoured this book in a breezy timeframe.
Was definitely worth the wait for me.
I thoroughly look forward to reading more of Meyers work.
5 shiny shimmery stars from me!.

“A twisted and Tangled yet beautifully woven tale. Magical elements with stories that felt very real. I really enjoyed reading it. The concept of it was very interesting and different from what I have read. Definitely Recommended.”

“At first, it wasn't what I expected for it being a biblical related, but once i got a couple chapters in, i was hooked! Angels, a battle, and a villain romance with Lucifer (Luc) and Lila, the creation of heaven and earth, made me love this book! This book was amazing!”
