“After re-reading all the HoN books last year (and being disappointed in them), I don’t know why I thought I’d try this book. I really like the idea of HoN and the vampyre ideology, but I cannot stand the writing and pointless conversations/bickering.
I got through 25% and almost nothing happened. The writing is so cringy and eye-roll inducing. There was so much unnecessary bickering that was intended to be funny but just fell flat and was beyond annoying. There are so many distracting teenage tangents and pop culture mentions that seemed random and have nothing to do with anything important, so could just be left out. And as much as I wanted to like Aphrodite throughout the original series, she was just as rude and awful in this as she was before and I don’t know how/why she’s still with the “nerd herd”.
