“Revenge, rage, loss, and resurrection fill the pages of this enjoyable mix of stories. I had fun with them all, but standouts for me were: Ivy - L.P. Hernandez Picture to Burn - Gemma Amor I Look in People's Windows - Todd Keisling No Body, No Crime - L.C. Marino Shake It Off - Red Lagoe Also recommend making a playlist of the songs and catching some of the hidden gems in the stories.”
“While I didn't get the chance to attend any of the Eras tour shows, I'll be forever grateful to Taylor for making the tour happen. The way one single artist can swiftly shift the energy around the world to bring people together and manifest collective happiness is beyond me... I mean, without the Eras tour, even this collection of haunting horrors might not have existed! Thirteen short horror stories based around the discography of a musical icon (who I absolutely adore) was not an anthology I was going to miss. Plus, the authors who contributed to this collection did such an incredible job curating their own terrorizing tales from some of Taylor's biggest hit songs. As a big fan of short stories, but a classic mood reader, I'm usually nervous when approaching larger collections, but the way this anthology was crafted and how it triggered multiple sensations all at once truly kept me engaged and eager to read the next story. I loved how Stephanie Gagnon introduced the anthology and how she acknowledged the serendipitous collision of StokerCon with a particular leg of the Eras tour had given this book life, stating "two fandoms, both alike in dignity, forced to share a hotel for a summer weekend." Cardigan - Heavy hitter and such a clever use of the song lyrics, what an opening story! clap, clap Sweet Nothing - The slow, powerful intensity with existential dread. I.K.Y.W.T - Gave me 90s retro creature horror vibes and that I absolutely LOVED! Ivy - Picturesque and lyrical, filled with haunting Folklore charm and mystery. Pictures to Burn - Ooooooooh, this one was FIRE and so cleverly executed to be the perfect horror story to compliment one of Taylor's debut tracks! Marjorie - Beautifully written and crafted to give you the essence of family bonds with great use of the song lyrics to create a pseudo-biographical perspective. I.L.I.P.W - Ooof, nightmare fuel with those descriptive details and terribly haunting tale to go along with this TTPD track. No Body, No Crime - Short, but delicious! Twisty, and brilliantly executed. Better Than Revenge - Wiiiiiild and pure insanity. Gives such a dark and twisted back story to the classic Speak Now song. L.W.Y.M.M.D - Whimsical, wicked and empowering which gave me all the Reputation energy! Shake it Off - This one had me questioning everything until the very end... so chilling! Vigilante Shit - Congratulations Zach, you are now the new owner of my nightmares! Visceral and disturbing, in the cheekiest way possible. W.A.O.L.O.M - A horrific experience to discover the answer to this song's question... The way each author took inspiration from their selected song, but also Taylor's entire discography, and stitched the essence, emotions and energy of her albums within each of their own stories was phenomenal. I hope more volumes are to come, for Taylor has an endless catalogue of inspiration, and always has more to surprise us with... I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to Sobelo Books for giving me early access to this horror anthology in exchange for my honest opinions.”
