“Darth Maul gets sent on a mission to capture someone for Darth Sidious and it becomes a prison break book. It’s super gritty and violent, and I was entertained as a Maul fan. But after reading Shadow Hunter I felt like this was the inferior novel. I appreciate it trying something different but wished it connected more to the larger universe. I don’t think it expanded Maul’s story in a meaningful way.”

“The Star Wars books are sort of trying out different genres for their stories. I'm loving it. This is their "prison movie". It's amazingly violent. Maul is sent to infiltrate the galaxy's worst and most secure prison. It forces it's inmates into gladiatorial combat as televises it for profit. Maul is a bad ass in this. I loved it. It gets kind of bonkers at the end with this giant white worm.”
