Little & Lion
ByPublisher Description
A stunning novel on love, identity, loss, and redemption.
When Suzette comes home to Los Angeles from her boarding school in New England, she's isn't sure if she'll ever want to go back. L.A. is where her friends and family are (as well as her crush, Emil). And her stepbrother, Lionel, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, needs her emotional support.
But as she settles into her old life, Suzette finds herself falling for someone new...the same girl her brother is in love with. When Lionel's disorder spirals out of control, Suzette is forced to confront her past mistakes and find a way to help her brother before he hurts himself—or worse.
"Little & Lion is beautifully insightful, honest, and compassionate. Brandy's ability to find larger meaning in small moments is nothing short of dazzling." —Nicola Yoon, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything

“I loved this book. I never really wanted to put it down. I loved how accurately it represented bisexuality and the struggles that come with it, such as discrimination within the community which is supposed to show acceptance. I thought it was really cool how diverse the book was. I wonder how accurate the book is when it comes to Bipolar- I couldn't tell you. I just know I found it very interesting. I thought it was cool to read through Suzette's conflicting emotions and watch her come to accept them and figure them out over time.”

“This book is interesting. This was another book I went into blindly.
This is YA , but definitely covers heavier topics: POC, Jewish POC, bisexuality, bipolar disorder, aggression.
Things I loved: representation of bipolar disorder and the contrary debate of meds vs. no meds and the person's autonomy in making that decision. I loved how non stereotypical the characters were. Little is a black young woman who is trying to identify her sexuality as a Jew. I really love blended families. I loved the connection between Lion and Little- sibling support is so special and I love reading about it
Things I disliked: The love triangle. Little was a little bland to me and I felt it was hard to connect with her.
Overall, I think this is a great YA book to introduce topics in an easy and digestible way. I just don't think it was that memorable for me, but I did enjoy my time with it. So 3,⭐”
