I enjoyed the twist of maternal rivalry being rooted in long past slights. How the women, noble and gentry alike, dance around imperial patriarchy and the social stratification of the age.
Catherine and Rosalie are easy to fall for and Bath is a perfect setting for sapphic romance. Surrounded by family and friends ready to conspire for love adds a warmth to the love story I crave more of.
