“In 2021, I finally got around to reading this one for the first time. As a completist and continuity freak with a majority of my reading, I had to finish the previous volumes in the series as well as the other Richard Stark books that feature Alan Grofield crossing paths with Parker in. Hard Case Crime is putting out a new edition of Lemons Never Lie to celebrate their anniversary, so I sat down and gave this one another read. It's a great, fast paced story that features multiple capers and see Grofield's world get turned upside down as his crime life meets his domestic life. It feels a little bit more like a Parker novel than a Grofield one, but it also feels like we finally get to see just how far Grofield will go when his two worlds are forced together.
Special Thanks to Hard Case Crime, Titan Books and Edelweiss Plus for the digital ARC. This was given to me for an honest review.”

“When I’m in one of those reading funks…you know, those times when nothing sounds appealing…I can always lean on Mr. Westlake to pull me through. I absolutely love his writing style. It’s silly, action-packed and just self-aware enough that you feel he’s winking at you the whole time. This one is an interesting take on the heist formula. Swap a bank for a Midwest grocery store, and you’re in the right mindset. Fun, easy read!”
About Richard Stark
Richard Stark is the best-known pseudonym of multiple award winner Donald E. Westlake. As Stark, Westlake wrote more than 20 books about the ruthless professional thief Parker, starting with The Hunter, which was the basis for the movie Point Blank starring Lee Marvin. He also wrote books about Parker's partner in crime, Allan Grofield, of which Lemons Never Lie is by far the darkest.
