“This story was suspenseful from start to finish. I would have preferred a slightly faster momentum, but the characters were compelling and worthwhile. Lady Audley is one of the best female Victorian characters I’ve ever read. The cunning, the deception, the plotting… what a deliciously evil woman!”“I can't believe this book was first published in the 1860s! It reads very modern. There's bigamy, murder, arson, and blackmail. I can imagine people sitting around discussing it after cliff hangers like a soap opera mystery. Do you know lady audley's secret? Do I know her secret?
