Publisher Description

Celebrate Jane Austen’s classic novels with this short story anthology starring forgotten characters as they experience their own happy endings.

In honor of her 250th birthday, eight authors have come together with wildly imaginative reboots of the lives of several of Jane Austen’s minor characters. Written with plenty of love and wit, these clever stories star everyone from Pride and Prejudice’s snobbish Caroline Bingley to the modern descendant of Sense and Sensibility’s Eliza Williams and much more. Blurring genres and taking us across the oceans, Ladies in Waiting is a heartfelt celebration of Jane Austen and her timeless masterpieces.

Ladies in Waiting Reviews

“Difficult to rate as there was some particularly beautiful and poignant stories and others that felt fluffy or even out of place. Overall well done”
“This book was such a fun read. Admittedly I have not read any Jane Austen novels but somehow I’ve read a few Jane Austen related or inspired novels so I recognized most of the characters. This was extra fun because it’s a bunch of short stories so I got a little endorphin rush every time I finished a story. I also love how some authors modernized their tales to give it such a unique spin! I think snapdragon may be my favorite though! And thank you to the publisher for gifting me an advanced copy!”
“If you are a Jane Austen fan, then this book is a must read! A compilation of short stories by such talented authors, many secondary characters get their happily ever after! It's a delightful reimagining of the worlds that Austen created, and I absolutely loved the creativity of each story. I won't spoil it for anyone, I'll just recommend this book to all Austenites! Huge thank you to Kaye Publicity for my gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.”
