“I liked Xavier and Sloane’s relationship, it reminded me a lot of prince Naveen and princess Tiana from princess and the frog with the easy going party boy and the hard working business forward girl. I didn’t think it would work, thought it might be forced but it worked. As always the book was on the ana formula and was predictable
And like every other book and movie I don’t care for adding depressing plot points for shock or the sake of giving the characters a sense of growth when it’s not really necessary. To me it just feels like a cheap, quick and easy reach for a reaction, I personally feel like this is added in a lot of books and movies.
This book didn’t have as many that felt irrelevant but I’ll spoil them down below regardless since I personally would have liked to have them spoiled
Sloane: her ex fiancé cheats on her with her sister and she walks in to find them sleeping together. Hee family tired to tell her to get over it and disowns her for not getting over it
Sloane has a half sister who has a chronic fatigue syndrome. She has a mild accident when we passed out on the street and gets hit with a bicycle but is completely fine.
Xavier: his father is ill with cancer and passes away during this book.
Xavier’s mother passes away from a house fire when Xavier was young and he feels responsible for. He was helping organise and set up for a party and the candles he was using fell and caused a house fire. He was trapped inside and his mother rushed inside to save him. Xavier awakes outside the house to find his mother passed away and his father blaming him for what happened.”
