Publisher Description

An instant USA Today bestseller! From fan-favorite Scarlett St. Clair, the bestselling author of the Hades & Persephone series, comes a new fantasy filled with danger, darkness, and insatiable romance.

Their union is his revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be her death day. To end a years-long war, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn't the court she fears most—it's Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king—fierce, savage, merciless—chose her as consort.

The answer will shatter her world.

Expressionless Face“I did not have as much fun as I thought I would, I did finish the book just to see how it ended. I was able to guess most of the plot but there just seemed to be so much towards the end that things got lost. The MMC I did not like, he was really one dimensional and at times completely bulldozed the FMC boundaries. He was trying to convince her that he was not a monster while at the same time destroying kingdoms and towns for things that happened 200 years ago. And the FMC was really wishy washy, she would take offense at stuff but then immediately get over it because she was just so attracted to the MMC. Oh, and if I have to hear her talk about someone being the villain one more time I might lose it.. I enjoyed the beginning but towards the end, things were just getting lost. There was one part where she got jealous about a girl being on her husbands arm, but then absolutely nothing gets said afterwards, she doesn’t speak to him about it or anything, it just gets glossed over. I don’t think I’m going to continue the series, I read some reviews on the second book and I just don’t feel compelled to finish it.”
