Killing Me Softly

Killing Me Softly by Sandie Jones digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

What do you do when love turns deadly?

THE PERFECT COUPLE

Charlie and Freya used to be the picture-perfect couple. Happy and in love, Freya enjoyed a rewarding job heading up a charity’s fundraising efforts, and Charlie was fast becoming one-to-watch on the London culinary scene—if you couldn’t be them, you wanted to be with them.

A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY

They had it all . . . until one night a devastating accident tears their lives apart, and they’re awoken by police at their door, asking whether they are aware that their car had been involved in a hit and run.

A BITTER FEUD

Torn apart by accusations and guilt, the trust that Freya and Charlie once shared is shattered as they turn on each other, looking for someone to blame for the fallout. Told from both Freya and Charlie’s perspectives, a cat and mouse game ensues, both of them desperate to have someone to point the finger at. But is it more important to be right, or to win? Can Freya stay one step ahead of the man who knows her best? Or will Charlie’s stoic conviction to get what he wants be the death of her?

Sandie Jones’s next addictive novel is a wickedly twisty tale of obsession, and the deadly consequences of loving someone too much.

Killing Me Softly Reviews

3.5
“Thank you to NetGalley for giving me acces to an advanced copy of Killing Me Softly, releasing in March 2026. This is the story of a seemingly perfect married couple as they grapple with tragedy. This was a very good thriller, as the book progressed I felt the tension and anticipation rising. I liked that the chapters were short because it made the book feel quick & added to the tension, though the short chapters & time jumps sometimes made the timeline of events confusing. Everyone in this story was keeping secrets, from each other, from themselves and from the reader which made me deeply invested in figuring out what had happened and what was about to happen. Through the entire read, I continually wavered between possible scenarios and found my allegiance to the characters constantly shifting. The twist was one of my many theories, but it still had the jolt of surprise when it was revealed, and I did not predict what would happen next. All in all this is a fantastic choice for anyone who likes morally ambiguous stories with complex characters and a lot of theorizing in the background!”
“ARC I struggled a bit with the first half of this book, as I found it somewhat confusing and difficult to follow at times. The chapters felt a bit too short, which made it challenging to really connect with the characters since the POVs changed so frequently. However, as the story progressed, it became very clear why the author chose that structure! Around the halfway point, the pacing improved and the plot started to come together, making it much easier to follow and enjoy. The twist at the end completely caught me off guaro in the best way! Overall, I'd rate this book 3 stars”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of Sandie Jones’ upcoming release, “Killing Me Softly” set to publish March 2026. Isolation. Secrets. Lies. Control. Absolute chaos! What if the seemingly perfect partner ended up being anything but that? Freya thought she found her soulmate in Charlie. He fit every box she thought she was looking for. The absolute picture perfect couple everyone enjoyed inviting to parties and gatherings. One night changes everything about their relationship for good. There is a colorful cast of characters which keeps you guessing at who are we supposed to trust and who for certain is the bad guy. I absolutely could not put this book down! This is a face paced novel going back and forth between Freya and her husband, Charlie. The twists and turns kept me on edge the entire time. Hurry and add to your TBR!”
