“Wow!! this is historical fiction at its finest. The House of Eve and The Keeper of Lost Causes were beautifully woven stories that explored parts of history I never knew about. The storytelling was immersive, emotional, and deeply memorable. Both books stayed with me long after I finished them.”
“i love historical fiction but am always nervous starting a new one that may not live up to my all-time favorite (All The Lights We Cannot See). this book got me out of that fear. the storytelling, the coming together against all odds, the found family, all breathtaking.
just a hair shy of five stars for me got two reasons: one coincidence that just seemed too good to be true, and one character making such a blunder that i needed to step away out of secondhand cringe. but all of these things made this story the beauty that it is :)
final thought: do not read this one while hungry… not explicitly a food book, but i would cut a bitch to try one of these sugar cookies”
