“Mi interessa l'impero romano? Ma nemmeno più di tanto. E l'imperatore Giuliano? Ma nemmeno. Non so nemmeno perché l'ho preso su Kindle unlimited, sta di fatto che l'ho anche letto e sì mi è piaciuto. Questo libro ha tre aspetti che mi sono piaciuti molto: il primo è come è stato caratterizzato l'imperatore Giuliano. Imperatore che per essersi opposto al cristianesimo nei libri di scuola spesso viene raccontato come "il cattivo". Qui viene rivalutato ma senza eccedere nel senso opposto. Il secondo punto è il discorso sul punto di vista/fedeltà del racconto. Infatti la storia è raccontata attraverso le memorie di Giuliano, queste memorie poi sono commentate e corrette da due vecchi filosofi Prisco e Libano. Quindi avremo tre punti diversi sulla stessa storia e di come il POV influenza il racconto. Terzo il modo in cui sono state scritte le ambientazioni e le atmosfere, oltre a risultare parecchio credibili sono molto affascinanti. Infine le storie che parlano di cambiamento, fine di una grande epoca e inizio di una nuova di solito mi piacciono assai è così è stato.”Jack Foley

His first novel, Williwaw, written when he was nineteen years old and serving in the Army, appeared in the spring of 1946. Since then he has written twenty-three novels, five plays, many screenplays, short stories, well over two hundred essays, and a memoir.
