“This was a nice, quick read with good writing (I always love a novel in verse). I like how it deals with the grief of an acquired disability and was impressed with the character growth Vale showed, but most of the other characters felt a little flat. I suppose it’s hard to flesh out a lot of secondary characters in this format, though. I didn’t get much of a sense for the setting, either, but it seemed like the most important aspect of the story was Vale’s growth into her disabled and queer identities.
