Internment Reviews

3.5
“the writing is beautiful & the message was so important (… esp in the current political climate!!!!) I loved this book!”
Loudly Crying Face“4 ⭐️ What does it say about a culture or a country that this book was written in 2019, and STILL is relevant to current events? Is it the best written story out there? No. But it is still VERY powerful and relevant. Capturing topics like authoritative rules and government control, injustices and dehumanization of a group of people, and the power of protest, big or small, the author does a great job of making these hard topics digestible for even a YA audience. I read many negative reviews about this book, and i feel it may be because people were going into it without realizing what it was. Yes - the FMC is going to be childish - she is literally a minor. Only 17. Yes, she cares about her boyfriend. But she also rallies a group of kids to make change. It is a YA book, and is written to capture that target audience. In my opinion, while it focuses on Islamophobia, it can be interchange for any marginalized group. Overall, enjoyed this book and the messages it sent.”
Red Angry Face“the book touched on important topics and i get what the author was going for but the guard love plot that was happening??? idk about all that big dog”
