Mile 81 meets “N.” in this novella collaboration between Stephen King and Joe Hill.
As USA TODAY said of Stephen King’s Mile 81: “Park and scream. Could there be any better place to set a horror story than an abandoned rest stop?” In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they’ve lost one another. The boy’s cries are more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.

This is an eerie short story that shows one decision can change the whole trajectory of your life. When siblings Cal and Becky pull over to help a child crying in the tall grass, they never expect their lives would change forever.
This book will definitely make you think twice about stopping to help someone…

———————————————————————
Cal and his pregnant sister, Becky were driving down a country road when they hear a little boy yelling for “help” in the tall grass along the roadway. The siblings notice an abandoned car and decide to pull over and try to help the boy. Cal and Becky hear the boy yelling for help, and requesting they come into the grass and find him; from a distance comes another voice, the boy, Tobin’s, mother. The mother tells Becky and Cal to stay out of the grass.
Becky attempts to call 911, but she loses connection with the dispatcher. While on the phone, Cal wanders into the grass and gets lost. Becky remains outside of the grass and attempts to help find Cal. Unsuccessful, Becky soon wanders into the tall grass to find her brother. The two siblings find themselves lost and being attacked by the grass, and the things within. Becky soon goes into labor and delivers a baby girl in the middle of the field. Becky and Cal soon find each other, and the siblings are found by Tobin. Disoriented from her premature birth, Becky is dragged to a rock and thrown on it by Tobin and Cal. Her baby is nowhere to be found.
At a later time, an RV pulls up and hears Tobin’s cries, luring them into the tall grass.”
