“What a joy it was to read Ferrante in a more scholarly setting! Although I've read a majority of her published work, I don't think I will ever stop falling in love with her ability to deliver the truths (and lies) about our world in a most beautiful way. This book is a collection of four essays, three of which were delivered orally by an scholar in 2021. The collection offers insights about Ferrante's philosophy for reading and writing. While each essay may be read individually, I think it is best to sit down with this collection - which stands at just 111 pages - and read the whole thing in one sitting. Reading Elena Ferrante is like composing a song. Each paragraph, sentence, word, builds on the one that preceeded it, ultimately reaching the most powerful crescendo. Though this collection is slim, it will demand (and reward) your full attention. If you're a die hard fan of Ferrante, this book is for you. If you're a writer, this is for you. If you care about history, this is for you. I absolutely adored this.”
Thumbs Up“Four short speeches/essays on the subject of writing.”
