“What a pleasant surprise!! My only other book that I have read by this author was one that I absolutely hated (the heroine was horrible and the conversation was corny)
But this book... I loved everything about it. The heroine was an exuberant ray of sunshine, without being TSTL. She was up front and honest with her feelings and those feelings were pure and innocent and a very loving heroine. The hero was also written very well. He was a great balance of alpha male, not full-blown arrogant and cruel, and was able to be protective and loving to the heroine without seeming wimpy.
My favorite part of this book was how the author builds the steamy tension. She is great at it, you could sense there was insta-attraction but the characters themselves did not know it yet. So it was fun to watch them slowly fall into attraction and love thru their witty banter and interactions. Loved the opera scene. And the carriage ride.
I was actually thinking this would be a keeper for me, but by the end of the book I do admit to getting tired of the hero going on and on and on and on of how he needs a perfect duchess from a perfect family and how his father would not approve of our lovely heroine involved. I wish that his moaning and groaning could have been cut shorter than it was. But anyways, I loved this book and I am so happy I gave this author a second chance!”
“Premise of this 15/10, did Sebastian need to be such a withholding love interest for 2/3rds of this book? Also why is every historical romance love interest named Sebastian? Is this like the Josh of regency times?”
“You know what I hate? When the MMC repeatedly says he won’t marry the heroine and she acts shocked when he follows through with it. Then when he doesn’t want her she’s like no I’m not good enough for you. Girl, what? Pick a lane. I didn’t like either MC. I found myself skimming a lot until the end.”
