“Wasn’t expecting the ending and this book definitely exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Such a good book and by the end…I was sobbing. 😭 🐕”“I read only found this for audiobook to listen to, & finished it pretty much in one sitting. A little slower in the beginning with the Before & After, but it made everything come together & you understood why it was written that way once it came to her present day. Suspenseful storyline, you definitely rooted for the main character. I felt so bad for her when it came to her dad’s death & omgsh it brought tears to my eyes when Beau, her wolf-dog companion, was passing right in her arms from his wounds after being shot💔😭 especially after they bonded so much & he was her protector when she had nothing else. So emotional, cried like a baby!

Kate Alice Marshall does a fantastic job (AGAIN) capturing both the physical challenges of survival and the emotional weight of grief, isolation, and perseverance. Jess is a fierce protagonist whose strength feels earned, and I loved seeing her refuse to give up despite impossible odds.
The ending absolutely broke my heart. It was emotional, bittersweet, and stayed with me long after I finished the final page. While there were a few moments where the pacing slowed, this was still a powerful survival thriller with a memorable heroine and an ending that packs an emotional punch.”
