Why read on Fable?
Publisher Description
One of Mexico’s most promising and prominent writers—Melchor writes of lives with specificity, with a crude recognition of their humanity that allows, if not for redemption or hope for those lives, at least some measure of peace for their dead. Virtuosic prose.

“An incredibly uncomfortable, disturbing read. The humanity you’re introduced to is dark and crude, this absolutely won’t be for a lot of people. But the writing is authentic and unlike anything I’ve ever read.
This will stick with me for a long time.”

“Hmm. Interesting story, but in the finnish version, there wasnt any chapterspaces(?). So there was 50 pages without any spaces. Interesting look in to Mexican poverty and their beliefs.”

“Based off the summary on the back of the book, I feel like I read a completely different story.. At times the details were almost overwhelming, it could be very graphic, unsettling, and disturbing - I would skim through sections I didn’t feel comfortable reading.
However, I liked the twists of how everyone was connected in the story through a family tree or other relations and everyone had interesting motives. Every character was complex and had their own experiences that made them - them. I still enjoyed and highly value this book. Just not a five star read in my opinion. ⭐️”
