“I picked up 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲 expecting edge-of-your-seat suspense. While it delivers on tension and high-stakes action in parts, some choices slowed the pace. Zaire, an interpreter who stumbles into a terrorist plot, makes a compelling main character. Her reaction to the chaos around her feels authentic, and the setting in Rome gives the plot an interesting backdrop.
The plot moves at a steady pace at first. Zaire is accused of murder and detained. At the American Embassy, she meets Buck, the CIA agent assigned to get her home. That’s when the chase begins. They’re pursued by assassins determined to silence her. The stakes are high but sometimes the urgency doesn’t match the actions taken. Stopping by Zaire’s apartment didn’t feel like something a seasoned agent would risk.
That said, the story has its strengths. The gradual development of trust between Zaire and Buck adds depth. The writing is clear, and the concept is strong. If you’re looking for a fast-paced read that doesn’t get too dark or complex, this might be your speed. Perfect for: Readers who enjoy travel, light intrigue, and action without too much grit.
