“Such a good, cute book! Beautiful illustrations!”
“Review:
I loved the artwork of this story! So vibrant and lots of blues/greens. I also loved that in almost every picture with a body of water you could spot at least one mermaid, even if the child searching in the story doesn’t see them. 😉
I believe that a reader who is maybe still working on their reading skills but also not a beginner would enjoy and be able to read the story on their own. Each page only had a shorter sentence or two/three. Though it’d also be good for a story time, especially if the person reading the story aloud encourages the child(ren) to search for the mermaids!
Summary:
Do you want to see a mermaid? Follow this child as they gather supplies and give you tips on where you might be able to see a mermaid.”
About Jane Yolen
Jane Yolen (the “Hans Christian Andersen of America”) has written over 400 books, won numerous awards, and has been given six honorary doctorates in literature. She has always lived near water. As a child, Jane often stayed with her grandparents who lived near the Chesapeake Bay. Growing up, her family lived in Manhattan, an island with rivers on each side. They later moved to Westport, Connecticut, which is a beach town. And as a grown-up, Jane now lives a block away from the Connecticut River in Massachusetts. Of course, she looks for mermaids.
