Publisher Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas launches her brand-new CRESCENT CITY series with House of Earth and Blood: the story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance.

Half-Fae, half-human Bryce Quinlan loves her life. By day, she works for an antiquities dealer, selling barely legal magical artifacts, and by night, she parties with her friends, savoring every pleasure Lunathion—otherwise known as Crescent City—has to offer. But it all comes crumbling down when a ruthless murder shakes the very foundations of the city—and Bryce’s world.

Two years later, her job has become a dead end, and she now seeks only blissful oblivion in the city’s most notorious nightclubs. But when the murderer attacks again, Bryce finds herself dragged into the investigation and paired with an infamous Fallen angel whose own brutal past haunts his every step.

Hunt Athalar, personal assassin for the Archangels, wants nothing to do with Bryce Quinlan, despite being ordered to protect her. She stands for everything he once rebelled against and seems more interested in partying than solving the murder, no matter how close to home it might hit. But Hunt soon realizes there’s far more to Bryce than meets the eye—and that he’s going to have to find a way to work with her if they want to solve this case.

As Bryce and Hunt race to untangle the mystery, they have no way of knowing the threads they tug ripple through the underbelly of the city, across warring continents, and down to the darkest levels of Hel, where things that have been sleeping for millennia are beginning to stir…

With unforgettable characters and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“maybe it was a mistake for this to be my first sjm book but to this day it’s still probably my favorite. i love this magical world and the characters. i don’t know how i managed to read this beast in 5 days during online courses but it was just that addictive. throne of glass may be my favorite sjm series, but crescent city isn’t far behind. anyways i can’t keep up with all these sjm multiverse theories but if i don’t see my loves from throne of glass i might riot.”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“SJM has done it again. I have read her other series and tbh I was nervous about this one. Well, I will never doubt her again! Yes, it’s a little slow at first bc of the world building and establishing the characters, but it’s worth it! So excited to see where the rest of this series goes.”

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“Definitely slow to start, but that’s because it’s a lot of world building and setting up the plot. This is for sure a more intermediate fantasy as compared to SJM’s other books, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Once the plots picks up, it’s addicting and the characters are so loveable.”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“Wow this book oh my god I literally loved it so much. I didn’t think I’d like the fact that they have technology and night clubs but I really enjoyed that part. Bryce is a bad bitch and I love her”

Slightly Smiling Face“Like any SJM book, there is a lot of set up and character development before the plot actually begins. The story essentially functions as a buddy cop detective mystery set in a fantasy world where technology has advanced along side magic. I’d recommend reading other SJM works first or else you’ll find this book confusing. Ultimately, I enjoyed the novel and the characters in it. They’re plenty of twist and surprises throughout along with questions to be answered in the next book of the series.”
