Este volumen es un espejo de las leyendas tradicionales de El Salvador, puesto en diálogo con sus contrapartes europeas —especialmente de España— para revelar arquetipos compartidos, miedos universales y estructuras morales que se repiten a través del tiempo y las culturas.
Más que presentar las leyendas de forma aislada, este libro compara, contrasta y reflexiona sobre figuras recurrentes del imaginario popular: diablos y tentadores, guardianes de la noche, heraldos de la muerte, espíritus errantes, apariciones fatales y traviesos domésticos. A través de estos espejos, las leyendas salvadoreñas adquieren una nueva profundidad al ser observadas junto a sus equivalentes culturales.
Durante siglos, estas historias se transmitieron de padres a hijos como advertencias disfrazadas de mito, como memoria colectiva conservada a través del miedo, el asombro y la tradición. Este volumen explora cómo esas mismas fuerzas narrativas reaparecen una y otra vez, incluso a ambos lados del océano.
Este no es un libro de relatos lineales, sino un volumen complementario de folklore comparado, diseñado para leerse junto a los títulos principales de la serie.
