ByPublisher Description
USA Today–Bestselling Author: When a teacher starts to have feelings for her firefighter pal, sparks will fly!
For Lillian Keim, instructing children in her one-room schoolhouse is as close to being a mother as she’ll ever get. Lillian has a calling to be a teacher, and she won’t give it up to marry. But her plans—and her heart—are at risk when she begins to feel more than friendship for lifelong pal Timothy Bowman. When Tim rescues Lillian and her class from a fire, the volunteer firefighter suddenly sees what he’s been blind to all his life: he wants his friend as his wife. But something beyond her professional goals is holding Lillian back. He’s got to unlock her secret before he loses his friend—and his forever love.

“Years ago Lillian moved away from her Amish community and best friend, but now she was back as their school teacher. She loved her job and loved the kids as her own. After all the time away from her best friend, she and Timothy were now close once again. But this time it is different, she feels it and he feels it. But... Lillian has a secret, while she was away something changed with her, and she plans to no longer marry because of it. So what happens when Timothy starts to bring up his feelings, but Lillian refuses his advances? They are at a fork in the road...they can't ignore their feelings, they also can't be together. So now what?!
This was the sweetest story, along with the love story there also was a decent amount of suspense. This was my first time reading a book by Patricia Davids, it won't be my last!!!”
