“The plot holds a lot of promise: a plane full of passengers are approached by an older woman handing out predictions of cuase of death and age of death, which seems innocuous until some of these predictions begin to come true. The impacted passengers then struggle in their day-to-day choices trying to determine their belief in fate, and to avoid or outwit their outcomes. The story lends itself to the thinking that is typical when faced when mortality - do you fight for more moments, or relax into focusing on more moments of quality? However, the story is told from the perspectives of the various passengers and the mysterious older woman, so ends up being both slow-paced and at times confusing as connections and minor characters are built out, explained, or resolved. The ending is a nice change of pace, and a little twisty, but it felt like it dragged on, in part because the author was trying to resolve so many character/plot lines.”
