«Helfen» oder «toeten»? Die Mediendebatte um die Sterbehilfe

Der Gedanke an das Sterben ist meist von Ängsten und Unsicherheiten geprägt. Dank der Fortschritte in der modernen Medizin ist es in vielen Fällen möglich geworden, die letzte Phase des Lebens künstlich zu verlängern. Gleichzeitig bieten (teils kommerzielle) Organisationen an, beim vorzeitigen Beenden des eigenen Lebens zu assistieren. Die Studie beschäftigt sich mit der Mediendebatte um die sogenannte Sterbehilfe. Sie untersucht diskursanalytisch, wie Akteure mit sprachlichen Mitteln um Deutungshoheit ringen und wie Konzepte in der Debatte medial vermittelt und diskutiert werden. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt dabei der qualitativen Analyse der grammatischen Verknüpfungsmittel (Konnektoren). Diese verbinden Aussagen miteinander und konstituieren damit kausale Zusammenhänge im Diskurs.
