“This was beyond beautifully written, the exploration of grief was incredible and so moving, it's not often that I weep at a book but this one got me. I'm so glad that Maggie decided to completely omit William Shakespeare's name from the novel because I think it would have taken me out of the story and away from the family's experience. It's a great read and I'd really recommend it.”
About Maggie O'Farrell
MAGGIE O'FARRELL was born in Northern Ireland in 1972. Her novels include Hamnet (winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award), After You’d Gone, The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, The Hand That First Held Mine (winner of the Costa Novel Award), and Instructions for a Heatwave. She has also written a memoir, I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death. She lives in Edinburgh.
