“A fantastic conclusion to the Forerunner Saga that manages to satisfyingly lead to the events of the games without feeling contrived or rushed to do so. The presentation of the plot through archived data streams presents an effective method of jumping between perspectives in a galactic conflict while still seeming coherent. There are certain moments that would absolutely rend your heart, were that the narrator at those moments wasn't so coldly objective with its observations. This maintains a typical hard sci-fi affect, delving some into the feelings of characters without letting them get too comfortable. Even if you aren't a Halo fan, I highly recommend this trilogy for any fan of the heady world-building of Herbert or Asimov.”
