“I had a bit of a hard time picturing some of the different settings being described, and I kind of felt like I was missing something because of it… overall enjoyable though! Reading through this saga before playing Halo 4 <3”

“I'll start by saying that this book is required reading for any Halo fan interested in the deeper mysteries of the Halos, their history, and the deeper conflicts of the universe. However, the first 60% or so of this book is ridiculously slow, pulled along only by the promise of answers and some endearing, if somewhat convenient, character writing and relationships. The second half makes it 'almost' worth it, but it's still a slog to get there. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook format, not only to drag you through the slow bits but also because it is narrated by the one and only Tim Dadabo, and for a very appropriate reason (without spoiling).
TL;DR: Read if you're a Halo fan or enjoy large-scale intrigue experienced on a personal, uninformed level. Otherwise, just listen for Tim Dadabo's incredible voice talents.”About Greg Bear
