Award-winning author Tiffany D. Jackson delivers another riveting, ripped-from-the-headlines mystery that exposes horrific secrets hiding behind the limelight and embraces the power of a young woman’s voice.

When legendary R&B artist Korey Fields spots Enchanted Jones at an audition, her dreams of being a famous singer take flight. Until Enchanted wakes up with blood on her hands and zero memory of the previous night. Who killed Korey Fields?

Before there was a dead body, Enchanted’s dreams had turned into a nightmare. Because behind Korey’s charm and star power was a controlling dark side. Now he’s dead, the police are at the door, and all signs point to Enchanted.

Loudly Crying Face“Another solid entry in Tiffany D. Jackson's catalogue. Like Allegedly and Monday's Not Coming, Grown takes inspiration from real life events. Throughout the book parallels are drawn between Disney's The Little Mermaid and Enchanted's arc. The eldest daughter tasked with taking care of her younger siblings yet still treated like a child, Enchanted jumps at the chance to be R&B star, Korey Fields', protégé, performing with him on tours and recording songs with him. However all is not as it seems as Korey Fields becomes increasingly controlling, possessive, and even violent. Grown is about how society treats victims of abuse, victims of abuse by celebrities and high profile figures, and victims that are women, especially Black women. This is a really good book with important themes. I like how Jackson puts her full support in believing victims and uplifting their voices and that it is ALWAYS the perpetrator(s) who are wrong. It is always the perpetrators who should know better. I give 4.5 stars because there were some things that just felt a little implausible and some of the minor storylines just felt a little unnecessary/unnecessarily complicated.”
