It turns out Toasty’s fishtank isn’t just for fish; it was made by a curious inventor who gave it special powers that, in the wrong hands, could disrupt everything forever. And a curious man with purple shoes just so happens to want that tank at any cost. “Read-aloud with my daughter (5): What a lovely, quirky little book. The writing is entertaining, but it is the characters who steal the show! I could not anticipate that a story documenting the intertwined lives of a goldfish, two plants, and a spider could be so entertaining, but it was beautiful! My daughter and I both looked forward to reading it every evening.
The pacing at the beginning of the book is slow and deliberate, and picks up at the end with a minor “thriller” component (I was amazed by the author’s tension building after spending so much time with slow character building and small adventures).
I had no idea what to anticipate, but was delighted by this children’s read.”
