“This was a 'blind date with a book' from the Hidden Library and was a book I'd never have picked up otherwise. The interlocking narratives from multiple perspectives was expertly crafted and the common theme between the voices was writing. I found myself second guessing the way in which the relationship between the narrators were linked which added an additional hook alongside the plot. It's one of those books where nothing really happens in regards to major event but EVERYTHING happens on a personal deeper level. The image of the foreboding writing desk makes me look at my own writing desk in a new light; thinking of who once wrote at it before I did, what secrets they stored in the drawers and duckets, the life this inanimate object has had. It's definitely a book I would read again and recommend to others.”
“I was challenged by this 4 part narrative structure all revolving around a desk. These stories within a story were smart and emotional. I appreciate Kraus’ writing style.”
