“Even though this book is being presented as being "ripped from the headlines" on the heels of blogger Gabby Petito's case, I feel that it is presented as a reminder that when a person of color or a person with mental health issues, or a history of running away, etc. is reported missing, it can be more often than not, shrugged off or not taken as seriously. At least, that is the perception. So, when a famous blogger goes missing and she just so happens to present as white, it creates a media frenzy. The police take it seriously and have their eyes on a suspect - not letting him out of their sights. The twists and turns make for a fun read, you won't see what's coming that's for sure. The ending is a description of Shasta Trinity National Forest , but the book takes you to nearly this precise location for a climactic ending you won't want to miss.
