“I liked this. The way the Mayan and Mexican folklore was seamlessly woven into the storyline was just beautiful.
Set in Mexico in the Jazz age (1920’s), Casiopea is miserable in her small town, cleaning up after her wealthy Grandfather. When she accidentally frees the Mayan God of Death, she is forced to accompany him on a dangerous yet freeing adventure. He was imprisoned by his traitorous brother, who now rules over the Mayan underworld. From the jungles of Yucatan to Mexico City to Tijuana and California, this adventure is a beautiful and haunting dark fairytale.
The prose!! Rich, evocative, engaging, beautiful.
The cultural depth, I was immersed in this story, this time, and this country.
Heavy themes of identity, self-discovery, independence, freedom, and love, all done in such a palatable way.
The creatures, folklore, and mythology were unique, painting an alluring image of Mexican culture and tradition.

“Get my girl Casiopea a damm car! 🚗 Jokes aside, I throughly enjoyed this fantasy. It was written with so much mystique. Everything I hoped for a Mexican mythology fantasy book.
