“This is the definition of mystery thriller. Jennifer Lynn Barnes is absolutely the best author for young adult mysteries. In my opinion, this book is the more gripping of the two „Grandest Games” series. As the bonds of the characters, and the story’s twists are stronger in this book, I admit - what a great, wonderful and witty story. I would definitely recommend to any fans of the first book, or fans of young adult fiction. I feel as if this book could be improved with strengthening the characters. “I liked this book and I think it’s a really cool idea! I don’t know if I’m a fan of this spinoff though. The multiple POVs are a little confusing at times. It’s like the voices in my head are fighting for space. I think if we had like 2-3 POVs instead of 4+, it’d be easier to get into and understand. I had a hard time really immersing myself in this book but I liked the ending. I will still read the book that’s coming out this summer!”
“Ok, at some point in this book I became so invested that instead of my mind trying to piece together the information, it was completely focused on what was going to happen next. This author has the ability to take a 4 book series, a novella collection, and 2 books in a new series and somehow connect everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. The amount of twists and turns that this book had made it feel like a rollercoaster. It was so crazy seeing so many different characters from other books pop up (especially Jackson). Speaking of characters popping up, I am sooo glad that Toby was in this! Another thing, Jameson is one of my favorites, and I get that he’s freaking out cause Avery is missing, but he’s being wayyyy too hard on Grayson and Lyra. Also, AVERY IS MISSING! WHAT! This may be a hot take, but I can’t stand Savannah. Anyways, if I had to put this book into words, then I would say that it is a puzzle with too many pieces. One last thing, I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAPPPPP!!!!!”
