Give the Dark My Love

By Beth Revis
Give the Dark My Love by Beth Revis digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

A young alchemist turns to dark magic when a deadly plague sweeps through her homeland in this epic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis.

Seventeen-year-old Nedra Brysstain leaves her home in the rural, northern territories of Lunar Island to attend the prestigious Yugen Academy with only one goal in mind: master the trade of medicinal alchemy. A scholarship student matriculating with the children of Lunar Island's wealthiest and most powerful families, Nedra doesn't quite fit in with the other kids at Yugen.

Until she meets Greggori "Grey" Astor. Grey is immediately taken by the brilliant and stubborn Nedra, who he notices is especially invested in her studies. And that's for a good reason: a deadly plague has been sweeping through the north, and it's making its way toward the cities. With her family's life--and the lives of all of Lunar Island's citizens--on the line, Nedra is determined to find a cure for the plague.

Grey and Nedra grow close, but as the sickness spreads and the body count rises, Nedra becomes desperate to find a cure. Soon, she finds herself diving into alchemy's most dangerous corners--and when she turns to the most forbidden practice of all, necromancy, even Grey might not be able to pull her from the darkness.

Give the Dark My Love Reviews

3.5
“This is the first book that I've read by Beth Revis and I am thoroughly impressed. I don't mind when chapters are written in different perspectives as long as there isn't too many characters bouncing back and forth. It was very well done and her writing style is easy to read and smooth. I found the transition between chapters to be smooth and not super disconnected. When it comes to characters, I really like the direction that Nedra's character took. She wanted to be the hero through whatever means necessary ie doing necromancy to save her sister whatever the cost. Going from a soft village grown kid on a school scholarship to bad ass necromancer. I'm very excited to see where her character goes in book 2. The plot is very interesting and I liked it. I haven't read a lot of books revolving around alchemists/necromancy. The overall theme of all alchemy is that there is a cost to it. I like the added crucible element and using a live element when using alchemy.”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“This was a good book of the Give the Dark My Love series. It was very gripping, thrilling and a little emotional. My only complaint was Grey, I feel like he didn't contribute enough to be in the story (in my opinion). Nonetheless, I still liked it. I thought Nedra was a badass and loved how she never gave up. The ending didn't surprise me, to be honest, but some of it did at the same time. I give this book a 3.75 Stars.”

About Beth Revis

Beth Revis grew up in the Appalachian Mountains with a cemetery in her backyard, which is probably why she prefers her stories to be dark and full of twists.
