Girl in the Creek

By Wendy N. Wagner
Girl in the Creek by Wendy N. Wagner digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Girl in the Creek is a pulse-pounding story about the horrors growing all around us, perfect for fans of Jeff VanderMeer and T. Kingfisher.

Buried secrets only spread.

Erin's brother has been missing for five years.

It was as if he simply walked into the forests of the Pacific Northwest and vanished. Determined to uncover the truth, Erin heads to the foothills of Mount Hood, where Bryan was last seen alive. He isn’t the first hiker to go missing in this area, and their cases go unsolved.

When she discovers the corpse of a local woman in a creek, Erin unknowingly puts herself in the crosshairs of very powerful forces—from this world and beyond—hell-bent on keeping their secrets buried.

At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Girl in the Creek Reviews

3.5
“I have many mixed feelings about this book. For one, I loved the concept of this story, the opening was strong and gripped me to read more, the characters were well explained and the writing style is amazing. What gives me mixed feelings about this book, however, is that although I loved the writing style and thought the way the author described each scene made every detail so vivid, I did feel that the way everything was explained and how the characters engaged with each other to move the story along was very repetitive. As this continued, I began to feel less connected to the story and the characters. However, this was an original eco horror story that many will enjoy.”
“Phew. What a ride of a storyline! The last bit read like a psychedelic fever dream, where you will be muttering under your breath “WTF?!!!” every few minutes. Girl in the Creek is a wild mix of mystery, thriller, and forest horror rolled into a vividly descriptive story set in the PNW. The descriptions will magically transport you to Oregon; although, it might make you reconsider going for a hike any time soon… Hahaha. The story will hook you in, make time disappear, and next time you blink, you will have devoured most of the book. Highly recommend if you want a quick, moody horror/thriller to read this Autumn.”
