Gilded

By Marissa Meyer
Gilded by Marissa Meyer digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

In Gilded, #1 New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer returns to the fairytale world with this haunting tale.

Long ago cursed by the god of lies, a poor miller's daughter has developed a talent for spinning stories that are fantastical and spellbinding and entirely untrue.

Or so everyone believes.

When one of Serilda's outlandish tales draws the attention of the sinister Erlking and his undead hunters, she finds herself swept away into a grim world where ghouls and phantoms prowl the earth and hollow-eyed ravens track her every move. The king orders Serilda to complete the impossible task of spinning straw into gold, or be killed for telling falsehoods. In her desperation, Serilda unwittingly summons a mysterious boy to her aid. He agrees to help her… for a price. Love isn't meant to be part of the bargain.

Soon Serilda realizes that there is more than one secret hidden in the castle walls, including an ancient curse that must be broken if she hopes to end the tyranny of the king and his wild hunt forever.

Slightly Smiling Face“Love how the story develops and the stories within the story. I am so glad it's a finished duologue because the cliffhanger at the end was agonizing the first time I read it before the second book came out lol”
Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“I actually really liked this book. The retelling made the fairytale more interesting, and changing the idea of who the villain is was a very good plot point. Overall a good YA pick for anyone looking for an easy fantasy book to get into.”
Thumbs Up“So I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would, it’s not a new favourite but it was really good 😌. I was really invested in the story the whole time while reading and I really liked all of the characters, the romance was also sweet. I also really liked the villain character and I’m curious to see what happens in the next book, but I mainly just enjoyed the vibes of the story. Just all of the dark fairytale vibes 🧚🏻‍♀️🖤✨”
Thumbs Up“This was such a unique story! I would describe it as a story within a story, in fairytale setting. Was very descriptive and I was honestly shocked a couple times while reading it. It did take me awhile to get through and I found myself struggling to get to the end, but overall was a good read! Will be reading the next one for sure.”
Thumbs Up“Personally it took me a while to get into the book but when I did it was pretty good and fun to read! I did think that the romance between Serilda and Gild was a little rushed for my taste especially considering the other books by Marissa Meyer where the two love I treats meet really easily on in the book and we see both their perspectives and I guess only following Serilda and her constantly thinking she isn’t special in his eyes but never getting over that in this book. I hope that the next one is better! I have to say I read the last 100 or so pages in one sitting and why was it a little scary it may be because I was reading it at night or well late at night but I got a little spooked! Also loved the storytelling aspect! ( and Gild <3)”
