Etherall Valley Academy. It's an elite school for students facing "unique challenges" – so there's going to be drama.
My unique challenge is my trio of invisible companions, but nobody can know about that. My plan is to blend in, keep my head down, and simply survive my final year at high school.
That's until I'm selected for the school's gifted program. It's a class like no other: seven very different teens with talents I never suspected. Among them is bookish Drew, dark and solitary behind his facade of spikes, piercings and dramatic makeup. He barely looks my way, and yet I always feel like he's watching me.
Our mentor says our gathering is a convergence of our powers, that we must learn to use our gifts in balance and connection, but that's not easy when secrets and rivalries are in play.
I just need to survive my senior year. Literally.

“Ghostling is a YA paranormal and totally worth the read if you’re looking for a ‘superpower’ teens fix.
A little background for this story, too. A decade ago, Harrier (aka S.D. Wasley) published The Seventh (in fact, it was a 3-book series), and she recently got her rights back to do a rewrite and self-publish. The Seventh is now called Ghostling, and this beautiful cover is the end result of Harrier’s re-work and vision for the series! She will soon follow up with Book 2 (Darkling) and Book 3 (Deathling) – bonus points: she’s an Australian author!

Her plan is to blend in, keep her head down, and simply survive her final year at this new high school. That is until she’s selected for the school’s gifted program, but it’s a class like no other: seven very different people with talents Mimi never suspected. Their mentor says their ‘class’ is a convergence of their powers, but that’s not easy when secrets, rivalries, and desires are in play.
Ghostling was an incredibly enjoyable read and will certainly appeal to its YA audience. Easy to read, easy to comprehend, and your young reader will definitely be able to relate to at least one of the characters.
There’s heartbreak, there’s adventure, and it kept me engaged the whole way through. I was really rooting for Mimi in this story, and can’t wait for Darkling to come out later this year. This is dark academia for youth and is definitely a page turner.
