“Such a slow burn. Hard to finish, but the last 20 pages or so is when things really start to pick up.
I've wanted to DNF it, but kept going and ended up skimming some pages just to get through.
A lot was repetitive, and the characters were unlikable.
A man in his 60s that only dates 20 year olds....a wife that cheats on her husband with everyone in town but suddenly has a change of heart at the end??
The men were irritable.
Totally rooting for the monster in the end, honestly.”
“I love when stories have multiple points of view and each main character has a little piece of the puzzle and all those pieces do not click for the MCs or the reader until all the characters are together and start talking....talking and taking action. That moment is my favorite! And this story is a master class on how to do it well. This novel did everything well, immersive world-building, great character development, and a scary villain. The pacing was a little slow, definitely a slow burn with a well-earned satisfying conclusion.”
