Publisher Description

New York Times Bestseller

Thirteen relentless tales of supernatural suspense, including “In the Tall Grass,” one of two stories cowritten with Stephen King and the basis for the terrifying feature film from Netflix.

A little door that opens to a world of fairy-tale wonders becomes the blood-drenched stomping ground for a gang of hunters in “Faun.” A grief-stricken librarian climbs behind the wheel of an antique Bookmobile to deliver fresh reads to the dead in “Late Returns.”

In “By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain”—now an episode on Shudder TV’s Creepshow—two young friends stumble on the corpse of a plesiosaur at the water’s edge, a discovery that forces them to confront the inescapable truth of their own mortality. And tension shimmers in the sweltering heat of the Nevada desert as a faceless trucker finds himself caught in a sinister dance with a tribe of motorcycle outlaws in “Throttle,” cowritten with Stephen King.

Replete with shocking chillers, including two previously unpublished stories written expressly for this volume (“Mums” and “Late Returns”) and another appearing in print for the first time (“Dark Carousel”), Full Throttle is a darkly imagined odyssey through the complexities of the human psyche. Hypnotic and disquieting, it mines our tormented secrets, hidden vulnerabilities, and basest fears, and demonstrates this exceptional talent at his very best.

Thumbs Up“I literally only bought this because of the Petetbilt on the cover and it was under $3. I had no idea Joe Hill is Stephen King's son. This was a collection of short stories, thriller and horror obviously. Hard toss up between a 3 and 4 star. It started out strong with the first two short stories. Throttle: Essiently a trucker on a revenge tare picking off a biker gang one by one. Kept me on the edge of my seat and sick to my stomach. Dark Carousel: My favorite out of them. The entire time I was in anticipation of what horrible thing was going to go down... was not disappointed in that horrible turn of events. Ending was good too. Next two stories felt like they were missing something and had abrupt unsatisfying endings. (Wolves, children and a lake creature.) Faun had Narnia vibes but darker. It was too drawn out, though, and had potential to be more sinister. Late Returns was a neat one... a mobile library that travels through time. All I care about is you: A futuristic setting with ai robots. Hated the ending. I think we needed more time and context to get inside the main characters head to not hate the ending... Thumbprint: ex military woman is harassed. Felt like a pointless story. The devil on the staircase: Couldn't get into it, DNF. Twittering from the circus of the dead: Super captivating / fast paced. An entire story made up up by tweets. Great ending because it leaves you to decide for yourself what to believe. Mums: A psychological one. Messed up but it wasn't overly impressing either. In the tall grass: Acheived giving me that sickly anxiety feeling while reading. Although the second you involve a pregnant woman and child birth in a horror story I am disturbed. A brother and sister get lost in tall grass where some dark stuff is going down. You are released: Almost DNF.”
