Publisher Description

Framed and Frosted, the third book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery series, finds cupcake caterer, Emory Martinez, working at a Laguna Beach society Fourth of July soiree, with her sister and their new employee, Sal. With a host who seems intent on accosting both catering employees and guests alike, things go from bad to worse when he accuses Sal of murdering his long-dead son.

As the crescendo of exploding fireworks overhead becomes the backdrop for cupcakes and champagne, a deadly murder occurs. Can Sal and Emory explain why the cupcake the host ate, after shoving a trayful of buttercream-frosted cupcakes onto Sal, resulted in his death? Or will the guests and detective alike believe that Sal is a murderer? Emory and her octogenarian employer, Tillie, whip into action to find out who framed Sal after he was frosted by the victim.

“Emory Martinez is helping her sister Carrie cater a chic Dîner en Blanc for a Fourth of July soiree, along with their new employee Sal. The host is unlikable (rude, sexist, & racist) but things go from bad to worse when Mr. Jorgensen accuses Sal of murdering his long-dead son. Later as Emory, Carrie, & Sal are giving out cupcakes during the fireworks show it only gets worse when Mr. Jorgensen accosted Sal & then keels over dead. Sal is immediately arrested after a Doctor attending the party declares that their host was poisoned. Emory along with her friend & employer Tillie take it upon themselves to prove Sal's innocence. Framed and Frosted is the third book in the cupcake catering mystery series, and the first book that I've read in the series. As such I haven't had the time to discover for my self the intrigue that Emory (the main character) has gotten herself embroiled in time & again, so I'm as always very thankful for the well written recaps that cozy authors manage to slip into their stories for us first time readers. I love a good mystery, especially one that includes lots of good plot twists & isn't easy to figure out. As such Framed and Frosted is one of the best cozy mysteries that I've read recently. The characters are fun, engaging, & written with depth. The author wrote not just one but two great plots into this story which have great impact on the lives of the characters. Another thing I always love is the recipes included at the end of the book. And this one includes the menu & recipes for hosting your own Dîner en Blanc, plus 3 cupcake recipes. Full Disclosure: I got a free kindle book for review”
