“For new authors, I typically open to a random page to read and if I like it, I get the book. This is the first time I feel like this failed me…. I read from the story ‘The Devil’s Garden’ and that was the one story I truly liked and it was the only one I felt was the most linear. This book is very autobiographical and while that works some of the time it was hard to tell in some of the stories what the focus was as the author kept skipping around from 2-3 other lines of thought. I hated the first one but kept at it… the second half of the book was better, but overall… I was left feeling a bit like I could have been reading another book.”
